        **Important Notice**
The Maine Forest Service is requesting that campfire wood not be brought into Maine or transported more than 50 miles from your home location.
This is due to the threat of invasive insects that are transported in the firewood.  We are requesting that you do not bring firewood from home for your stay at Frost Pond Camps.  For more information please click on link.

Come and see Moose & Mountains.
It is time you awoke to a Sunrise in Maine!

Our seven housekeeping cabins are set on the edge of a clear, glacial formed, spring-fed pond.  We accommodate up to 25 guests for fly fishing, family outdoor adventure, nature and eco-tourism as well as unique hunting experiences.  Our traditional north woods waterfront cabins are tastefully appointed in vintage decor.  Each cabin is spaciously scattered among the trees and lawn of the waterfront for all to enjoy the privacy and remoteness of our location.

Quietly isolated a short distance from our rental cabins are our ten waterfront campsites, each along the shore of the pond.

Woods and waters in all directions provide a variety of activities for a relaxing and refreshing vacation in Maine's north woods.

  • Canoeing/kayaking quiet water frequented by moose
  • Swimming in the clear natural water of the pond
  • Fly fishing the West Branch of the Penobscot River
  • Brook Trout fishing Frost Pond
  • Exploring around Ripogenus Dam and the Gorge
  • Birding and Wildlife watching
  • Hiking in Baxter State Park & Mount Katahdin, Maine's highest peak
  • Scenic float plane trips
  • White water adventures on the Penobscot

or simply relaxing, listening to the loons and watching the sunset over the pond.

Frost Pond is located thirty-five miles from the town of Millinocket, in the beautiful area of Mount Katahdin and the West Branch of the Penobscot  River, three miles in-across Ripogenus Dam.  Known as the Katahdin Forest Project, this is a sustainably harvested working forest under the protection of a conservation easement with The Nature Conservancy and Katahdin Timberlands, LLC.  This project connects together conservation lands in the northern Appalachian boreal forest including the West Branch of the Penobscot, Debsconeag Lakes, Baxter State Park and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.

Maureen and I along with our son Jed, own and operate Frost Pond Camps.  We are both Registered Master Maine Guides, promoting conservation minded use of the forest and timberlands for the natural beauty, fish & wildlife, resources and economy through education and outdoor experiences.
