Hunting...

Our area provides for the experience of "Big Woods" hunting, unique in this part of the country. The fall season is open for ruffed grouse, moose by permit, bear and deer, of which our hunters take their share.

If you are lucky enough to draw a moose permit for the September or October moose hunt in zones 4, 9, 10 or even zone 5, you will find Frost Pond Camps an ideal
base. There is good access to some of the highest moose
populations in the state.

Deer season opens with archery in October and extends through
the regular rifle hunt to a final week of muzzle loader hunting. There
are some fine, big animals in this large wilderness, and you
won't be dodging other hunters while you're out; hunting
pressure is low. A maze of old and new logging roads can help
to put the hunter onto a bragging buck.

The 2008 Hunt was slow.  Although there were deer around, no one managed to connect.  After everyone left I found at least 5 very large deer not too far from camp.  That is hunting for you! Once again there were not any doe permits issued for zone 4 this year.

We do have minimum booking requirements during the fall
hunts.

We have resident and non-resident hunting licenses available.
